It must have been there — deep in my programming all this time. How else can I account for dedicating 50 years of my life to being a designer? The art of business was a gift I earned from my mother; and my father’s trade as a draftsman/engineer led me to a life as a visualizer, problem-solver, and builder — continuing a tradition that dates to 1868, when the Godat family of Swiss watchmakers left Europe for the U.S.
